Visitors who saw the work installed by Yinka Shonibare at the Venice Biennale observed a similarity between it and Prof. Peju Layiwola's exhibition Benin1897.com: Art and the Restitution Question. Layiwola's exhibition opened at the University of Lagos in 2010 and later travelled to the University of Ibadan. The visitors noted that Shonibare's work was not entirely new, drawing parallels with an installation Layiwola had created 14 years earlier.
