The Deputy Speaker of Uganda's Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has called on entrepreneurs and business persons to ensure transparency in their enterprises and diligently honour their tax obligations. Speaking at the inaugural National Prayer Breakfast Business Forum held at Parliament on Wednesday, 07 October 2026, Tayebwa noted a mismatch registered by the Uganda Revenue Authority where business owners with profits in billions of shillings declare minimal taxes. He emphasized that informal habits that helped start businesses might not sustain them, and that transparency is critical for sustainable business. The forum is one of the events held under the National Prayer Breakfast, which precede the national independence celebrations.
