The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called for tough measures against what it describes as avoidable deaths in detention facilities across Nigeria. The NBA stated that no government operative should subject Nigerians to torture, emphasizing that democracy requires strong institutions, rule of law, accountability, transparency, and independent oversight. This follows the deaths of at least 37 miners in NSCDC custody in Minna, Niger State.
