The Federal Government has released withheld salaries of members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) after the union threatened to paralyse academic activities. The government released eight months out of the salary arrears owed to the workers. SSANU had given a 14-day ultimatum over the implementation of the 2026 FGN/SSANU Agreement and demanded full payment of outstanding CONTTA arrears from January 1, 2026. The union warned of an indefinite strike if its demands were not met.
