Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said that only the pilot of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area, could explain how he manoeuvred the aircraft away from the community before the crash. The governor visited the crash site and stated that search and recovery operations for victims and the main wreckage are ongoing. He described the incident as a national tragedy and said no survivor had been found, with 25 occupants believed to have died. Aiyedatiwa described the crash site as a 'very gory sight,' noting that body parts, clothes, jackets, and broken aircraft parts had been recovered and preserved for investigation. The main body of the aircraft is believed to be submerged in the swamp.
