The Court of Appeal in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for Friday in an appeal filed by the Incorporated Trustees of the Socio-economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP). The appeal challenges a May 5 judgment by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, which awarded N101 million in damages and costs against SERAP and its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, for defaming two Department of State Services officials. The judgment was in a suit filed by the DSS officials, Sarah John and Gabriel Ogundele, who accused SERAP and Oluwadare of making false claims in publications on September 10, 2024. The appellate court's Registry sent a notice on Wednesday to parties in the appeal marked CA/ABJ/CV/1114/2026.
