The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has expressed concern that Nigeria has been in a state of war for over a decade due to insecurity. TUC President Comrade Festus Osifo stated that kidnapping remains a booming business for criminal elements and that insecurity has undermined efforts to attract foreign investment. The union urged the Federal Government to double its efforts in the fight against insecurity. Additionally, Osifo called on the government to strengthen the naira to between ₦700 and ₦800 to one US dollar, citing the high exchange rate as a central factor in the rising cost of goods, including petrol pump price.
