A recent White House meeting between President Donald Trump and leaders of major American artificial intelligence companies resulted in a voluntary safety pact. The meeting was convened amid advances in frontier AI, reports of unexpected system behavior, and fears of cyberattacks and misuse. The pact, signed by Trump and executives from Anthropic, Google, Meta, OpenAI, Nvidia, and xAI, requires four layers of safeguards: internal controls, oversight teams, independent external auditing, and board-level review. The accord also envisages regular cooperation among the parties.
