Former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke has pledged to reduce the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N300 per litre if elected president in 2027 under the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP). During an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, Duke criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies and proposed an alternative framework for the petroleum sector. He described the current subsidy structure as a “scam” and argued that petroleum products should be priced based on local production and refining costs rather than international crude benchmarks. Duke stated that total production and refining costs are around $45 per barrel, making it unreasonable to sell at higher prices.
