Nigeria is strengthening dog vaccination, surveillance and public awareness to prevent rabies deaths. The efforts aim to advance the goal of ending human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030. The 2026 World Rabies Day commemoration on 28 September brought together government institutions and partners under the theme "Stronger Together." A call was made for coordinated action across the human, animal and environmental health sectors.
