Dave Castino, a 37-year-old father of two from Indianapolis, has tracked his fuel economy across all 43,497 miles he's driven in his 2021 Mazda3 over the past three years. He averages 39.4 miles per gallon, 46% better than the EPA's combined estimate for the car, and has topped out at 45.6 mpg on a tank of gas. He uses the Fuelio app to track his gas mileage. He says tracking his gas mileage is a way to manage the tedium of his 38-mile commute each way.
