The Democratic Republic of Congo has reported 4,178 Ebola deaths, while Kenya has confirmed its first fatal case. WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus said significant challenges remained in containing the outbreak. He noted that most Ebola deaths still occurred in communities rather than treatment centres. Contact tracing had yet to reach the levels required for containment.
