The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has initiated moves to optimize the 700MW Zungeru Hydropower Project under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. The plant currently generates about 350 megawatts to the National Grid. The ICRC convened a stakeholders' meeting in Abuja with the Federal Ministry of Power, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), and other parties to review contractual and operational limitations affecting the plant's efficiency. The move aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to unlocking Nigeria's power sector potential.
