The National Coordinator of the Safe Schools Initiative, Hajiya Halima Iliya, has called for stronger collaboration between the initiative and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to improve school security nationwide. She made the call on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. According to a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the visit was aimed at strengthening synergy between the initiative and the military in securing learning environments. Iliya noted that the Safe Schools Initiative was established in 2014 following major attacks on schools, particularly the abduction of 276 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State.
