The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has recorded 259 Lassa fever deaths and 1,104 confirmed cases in 2026. According to the agency, 88 per cent of all confirmed cases were reported from five states: Ondo, Bauchi, Taraba, Edo, and Benue. The NCDC provided these figures in its latest update.
