Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, repelled an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists on a Forward Operating Base in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with the attackers reportedly operating on more than 100 motorcycles and armed with General Purpose Machine Guns and Rocket-Propelled Grenades. The troops responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to withdraw. A statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the terrorists abandoned weapons, equipment and other logistics while fleeing.
