The Presidency has stated that a new measure allowing the Nigerian National Petroleum Company to sell petrol at cost price is a discount intended to cushion price shocks. According to the Presidency, the measure does not represent a return of the fuel subsidy. The clarification was issued amid public discussion over the pricing arrangement.
