The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has advised the Federal Government to abandon its insensitive policies that have allowed indiscriminate hikes in the price of petroleum products. The Congress criticized the government for demanding sacrifice from workers without offering relief to the suffering masses. This was stated in a communique issued after a joint meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) and Central Working Committee (CWC), read by NLC President Joe Ajaero in Abuja. The Federal Government had announced a 30-day petrol discount at NNPC filling stations, with a proposed price modulation mechanism negotiating a ₦1,350-per-litre ceiling on the ex-gantry or landing cost of petrol, subject to monthly reviews.
