The Lagos State Government has initiated an overhaul of land administration and urban planning using digital mapping, LiDAR technology, and artificial intelligence to curb land-related bottlenecks, improve infrastructure planning, and make public services more data-driven. This move comes as the Group Managing Director of CFL Group, Lai Omotola, raised alarm over an alleged sophisticated land fraud scheme in the state, which he described as 'land title laundry.' Omotola warned that forged property documents are allegedly being inserted into the state's land registry to make them appear genuine. He alleged that some individuals, working with insiders in the Lagos State land registry, target abandoned and high-value properties, particularly in Ikoyi and Victoria Island.
