Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has said the bank is moving to deepen Nigeria's access to Asian capital, emphasizing that the real test of recent reforms is whether they can make foreign investment stay, return, and grow. Cardoso made the case for stronger Nigeria-Asia financial ties during high-level engagements in Singapore involving the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Global Finance and Technology Network, and major Nigerian and international financial institutions. The CBN also announced that it has stepped up enforcement across the banking sector, warning that bank directors and major shareholders could face removal where persistent insider credit breaches are found. Cardoso is on his way to the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok.
