In Benue State, young girls are being trafficked under the promise of jobs in Lagos, other cities, or abroad, with offers often made by relatives or trusted acquaintances. Victims may have their phones taken away, be moved through unfamiliar routes, and end up in destinations they never agreed to visit, facing sexual exploitation, forced labour, and modern-day slavery. Many never return home alive, while those who do reunite with their families share harrowing tales. The problem is prevalent in Benue.
