The Obidient Movement has criticized the Federal Government's 30-day petrol discount initiative, questioning the figures used to calculate fuel-related interventions and accusing the government of insufficient transparency in managing the petroleum sector. The movement argued that the temporary discount raises questions about the government's stance on fuel subsidy following its removal, and said Nigerians deserve affordable petrol and accountability in public fund usage. It also stated that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), would restore fuel subsidy if elected, but under a transparent, accountable, and verifiable framework to ensure Nigerians pay half the reference price of petrol. The movement's position was contained in a statement issued on Friday by its Head of Media and Communications Directorate, Onyeka Dike.
