The Chinese Embassy held a meeting with Nigerian media executives in Lagos to explain the One-China Principle. Mr. Xu Fan, Director of Bilateral Relations and Commerce at the Chinese Consulate General, stated that China's position on Taiwan is based on historical records, international agreements, and post-World War II diplomatic frameworks. He cited UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 of 1971 and Nigeria's recognition of the People's Republic of China, noting that Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment during President Tinubu's state visit to China in September 2024.
