The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, has warned online publishers against sensational reporting. He said fake news, unverified claims and exaggerated reports could destroy public confidence in elections and worsen voter apathy. The warning was contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Adedayo Oketola, and was delivered at the 10th Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers in Lagos.
