The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has counselled, treated, and rehabilitated 53,843 persons struggling with drug use across its 31 rehabilitation centres nationwide in the last five years. The agency also conducted 17,213 outreaches under its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign during the same period. Chairman and CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) disclosed these figures in remarks delivered at the 4th Vanguard Mental Health Summit in Lagos on Friday. Marwa emphasized the close connection between mental health challenges and substance abuse, stating that addressing one without the other would undermine efforts to support affected young people.
