The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research, in partnership with the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding, held a training for community early-warning monitors and local stakeholders in Ouangolodougou, Côte d’Ivoire, from 22 to 24 September. The training, supported by the Government of Japan, aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to identify, monitor, document, and report risks associated with ammunition diversion and trafficking. Participants mapped local risks, potential diversion routes, vulnerable locations, and observable indicators, and developed community risk profiles and recommendations. Sessions emphasised the role of community actors in complementing national and regional efforts to identify patterns of arms and ammunition trafficking.
