A police officer was killed by gunmen on Thursday evening along the Kwi-Beco road, which lies between Riyom and Barikin Ladi local government areas of Plateau State. The officer was reportedly riding a motorcycle to his duty post in the Chit area of Heipang District when he was attacked. The assailants also took the motorcycle after the attack. The incident occurred amid heightened tensions in Mangu, Bokkos, and Barikin Ladi LGAs, where the government recently imposed a curfew to douse tensions. The spokesman of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident and described it as disturbing, noting that the killing raised serious concerns about the safety of civilians.
