The third edition of the Guinea Economic Update, titled 'Beyond Mining: Turning Natural Resource Wealth into Private Sector Growth and Jobs,' reports that Guinea's economy grew by 7.3% in 2025. Growth was driven by a strong expansion in the mining sector, including bauxite production, as well as recovery in services and growth in agriculture. Inflation declined to 3.2%, contributing to improved household purchasing power and an estimated decline in the national poverty rate. The report notes that with the start of iron ore exports from Simandou, average growth is expected to reach 9.0% over 2026-2028, though mining-led growth may not automatically translate into broad-based welfare improvements given limited formal wage employment.
