Obi demands better welfare for serving, retired military

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, has called for improved welfare for serving and retired military personnel. He made the call on Friday in a message at the burial ceremony of retired Lieutenant General Isaac Obiakor in Awka, Anambra State. Obi described the recent loss of military personnel in aircraft and helicopter crashes as painful reminders of their sacrifices. He said retired military personnel deserved timely payment of pensions, accessible healthcare, decent housing and other support.
