Mr Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, reportedly made the comment during the party's town hall meeting in Benin City on Thursday. He allegedly said that only mad people and thieves would vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. In response, Mr Wike called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sanction Mr Amaechi over what he described as inciting and inflammatory remarks.
