PVC collection: Low turnout of registered voters nationwide

The first day of Permanent Voters Card collection saw low turnout of registered voters across Nigerian states as the Independent National Electoral Commission began displaying the National Register of Voters and issuing PVCs at ward and registration area levels. INEC attributed the low turnout to it being the first day and expressed optimism for improvement. While the exercise began smoothly in many states, eligible voters in Umuahia, Abia State, expressed anger over the absence of INEC officials at some designated collection centres. The exercise followed INEC's announcement that PVCs were ready for collection.
