The Gombe State Government has commenced the disbursement of N10.32 billion in gratuities to 6,665 retirees from both state and local government levels. Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who flagged off the payment, stated that the administration inherited over N21 billion in outstanding gratuity liabilities in 2019, covering arrears from 2012 to 2019 for local government retirees and 2014 to 2019 for state retirees. The latest payment brings the total gratuity disbursed by the Yahaya administration since 2019 to N44.134 billion. The governor described the occasion as a moment of justice and honour for the retirees.
