With three months remaining until the 2027 general elections, political parties and candidates have not yet fully commenced campaigns, even though the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) opened the campaign window nearly two months ago. According to INEC's timetable, the Presidential and National Assembly polls are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state houses of assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027. INEC cleared the way for Presidential and National Assembly campaigns on August 19, and for governorship and state assemblies on September 9. Since then, no serious campaigns have commenced, and while some leading parties have raised their Presidential Campaign Councils, most are yet to do so.
