The African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights has announced the winners of its competition for the Best Artistic Work and the Best Research Paper on the Death Penalty. The competition was part of the commemoration of the World Day against the Death Penalty. Sara TIMB won the Best Artistic Work Award for her piece titled "Immortel.le.s". Maria Florencia Carballo Nievas won the Best Research Paper Award for her paper titled "When counterterrorism undermines its own logic: the Sahel's death penalty revival". The competition aims to encourage reflection and raise public awareness on the challenges surrounding the death penalty.
