The World Health Organisation (WHO) has called on governments to give people with mental health conditions a meaningful role in shaping policies and services. The call was made as Nigeria joins the world to mark World Mental Health Day 2026. The WHO noted that people with lived experience are often excluded from decisions about their treatment and care. The theme for this year's commemoration is 'Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change'.
