The USS Abraham Lincoln returned to its homeport in San Diego this week after a 321-day deployment, which included 286 consecutive days at sea without a port call. The deployment was extended by Operation Epic Fury, which began at the end of February and marked the start of the Iran war. During the hostilities, the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group played a central role, with its embarked Carrier Air Wing 9 flying thousands of combat missions and dropping over a million pounds of ordnance. The Navy stated that the deployment is shaping future carrier operations.
