The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has responded to remarks by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, regarding the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi. The ADC insisted that Amaechi and other members have the constitutional right to campaign in Rivers State without permission from any individual. The party was reacting to a statement attributed to Wike, who reportedly said he would not allow Amaechi to campaign unless he stopped attacking President Bola Tinubu and accounted for funds allegedly misappropriated during his tenure. The ADC’s Publicity Secretary, Chizy Eneyi, described the remarks as troubling and called for issue-based discussions.
