A Nigerian Air Force aircraft with tail number NGR 931, carrying 32 people, crashed in Igbokoda on October 5, 2026. Residents reported that the pilot deliberately steered the plane away from populated areas, sacrificing his life to save the town. The black box and voice recorder, as well as the victims, remain missing seven days after the tragedy. The flight was en route from Benin to Lagos when the incident occurred.
