The Jigawa State Police Command rescued a 26-year-old suspected transformer vandal from a mob attack in Auyo Local Government Area. The command's spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the suspect, Laminu Sha'aibu of Gumusuwa Village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, was arrested at Maskangayu Village on September 29, 2026. Police received information from Ayan Village at about 3:30 p.m. that the suspect had been apprehended with vandalised transformer coils and was at risk of being attacked by a mob. Operatives rushed to the scene, rescued the suspect and took him to a primary health centre where he was treated and discharged, while the vandalised transformer coils were recovered.
