SGBV in Oyo: Urgent need to support survivors of forced economic dependence

Oyo State in Southwest Nigeria faces a serious problem of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), which includes underage marriage, rape, incest, and physical violence. A less-discussed dimension is forced economic dependence, where intimate partners deliberately prevent or limit a survivor's economic independence. There is an urgent need to support survivors of this form of SGBV.
