The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cleared Geoffrey Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, to contest the 2027 governorship election in Enugu State. Nnaji had resigned amid a Premium Times investigation alleging he submitted forged academic and NYSC certificates during his ministerial nomination in 2023. The report claimed the University of Nigeria, Nsukka disowned his degree certificate, and that he admitted in a court affidavit that he never collected a degree. Nnaji's name is number 13 on INEC's list released on Saturday night.
