The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced on Sunday that it re-arrested an 83-year-old woman, Uloma Uchechi Sunday, for drug offenses. She was apprehended on October 7 in a village in Abia State with methamphetamine and synthetic cannabis strapped around her waist. This arrest occurred barely a year after she was convicted for a similar crime. NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi stated that the agency acted on a tip-off, recovering two grammes of cannabis and seven grammes of meth. Nigeria is considered a trafficking and production hub for drugs, with contraband spilling into local markets, according to researchers and healthcare workers.
