The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the February 6, 2027 governorship election in Abia State, with 15 political parties fielding candidates. The list, pasted on Sunday at INEC's headquarters in Umuahia, shows that only one of the 15 governorship candidates is female, while the remaining 14 are male. INEC also displayed the names of the running mates of the respective governorship candidates. The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Abia State, Professor S. Agu, said the list was released late Saturday night.
