The Alliance for Economic Research and Ethics (AERE) has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) to publish weekly data on its N66 per litre petrol discount scheme, including volumes sold, participating outlets, average discounts, and impact on profit margins. AERE also urged the federal government to ensure that temporary relief measures do not become another petrol subsidy regime, emphasizing transparency, clear expiry dates, and accountability. In an analysis titled 'The N66 Question: Relief Without Relapse,' AERE said NNPC should publish a regular performance scorecard for Nigerians to assess the scheme's reach and cost.
