The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) is deploying an authentication technology to combat the proliferation of fake products. The Director General, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, said the technology-driven system will enable consumers to verify the genuineness of goods with their mobile phones. The Product Authentication Tracking System allows consumers to check products carrying embedded identification technology to establish whether they meet SON's requirements. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen market surveillance and product traceability.
