Political parties and candidates omitted from the final lists of governorship and state houses of assembly contestants released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are protesting their exclusion. Some attribute the omission to an error by the electoral body and plan to engage INEC today, while others intend to pursue legal action to have their names restored. INEC released the final lists for governorship candidates in 28 states and House of Assembly candidates in 36 states, with elections scheduled for February 6, 2027. The commission had previously released the list of candidates for the Presidential and National Assembly polls.
