The Enugu State Government has alleged that some opposition elements are planning to import armed thugs and bandits into the state to create panic and a false sense of insecurity ahead of the 2027 general election. Secretary to the State Government Professor Chidiebere Onyia made the allegation at a press conference, stating that the peace and security achieved in the state are non-negotiable. The government also criticized the National Democratic Congress for observing a minute's silence for the living, calling it a political stunt. The government denied any involvement in recent incidents at the airport and secretariat.
