The World Bank has projected that Nigeria's economy will grow by 4.3 percent in 2026, rising to an average of 4.4 percent annually between 2027 and 2028. The projection was contained in the latest edition of the Nigeria Development Update, released in Abuja. The bank stated that economic activity is expected to strengthen from 4.0 percent in 2025 to 4.3 percent in 2026 before edging up to 4.4 percent annually in 2027–28. It noted that reforms such as the removal of petrol subsidies and exchange-rate liberalization remain key to sustained growth, and urged the government to sustain the reforms to realise their full benefits, adding that poverty and inflation would continue to trend downward if reforms are sustained.
