The National Coordinator of the Atiku/Amaechi Coalition for Good Governance, Hajiya Saadatu Abdulrahman Maishunku, has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is positioned to secure women’s votes to win the presidency in 2027. Addressing party supporters, including a large gathering of women, in Kano, Maishunku described the ADC as a formidable opposition force poised to make history given its populist appeal and widespread acceptance in the current political landscape. She added that the party is endowed with leaders of exceptional pedigree and extensive experience in Nigerian politics. The coordinator emphasized that no serious politician can afford to ignore the numerical strength of women in modern politics, noting that taking female voters for granted would be detrimental to democratic growth. She announced that, marking a new phase in Nigeria’s political development, the party has resolved to launch a door-to-door campaign targeting women to raise awareness and prepare them for the challenge of wrestling power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Maishunku stressed that the group would spare no effort to give the incumbent administration a stiff political contest while maintaining a issue-based campaign free from mudslinging or character assassination. She asserted that the nation requires constructive political dialogue rather than baseless permutations. She urged voters not to allow themselves to be exploited by self-serving politicians desperate to retain power at the expense of those genuinely capable of delivering good governance.
