Israeli opposition politician Gadi Eisenkot, the main rival to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in upcoming elections, has vowed to defeat Hamas in Gaza within 18 months if elected. He said he would achieve this either by implementing US President Donald Trump's ceasefire plan or through creative military operations. The election is scheduled for October 27.
